Nursing Home Killer

Nursing Home Shooter Convicted in Deaths of 8

A 47 year old man named Robert Stewart walked into a nursing home looking for his ex-wife with shotguns in his hands. As he was looking for her, he started shooting at random the residents that lived there and one nurse who worked their.  Stewart was convicted of second-degree murder. His defense lawyers claimed that he suffers from depression, border-line personality disorder, and a sleep disorder. Stewart was taking an excessive amount of Ambien. With the second-degree murder conviction, Stewart will spend 128 to 160 years in prison, but he plans to appeal this decision.

This makes me sick to my stomach. I can't believe that he gets off the death penalty because he is depressed and taking a lot of sleep medication. What does that say to others? He gets upset because his wife leaves him and goes out killing incident people. I don't understand this at all. If I went out and killed people every time I was upset about an ex or something else then I'd be a cereal killer.

I think they should bring back the chain gang in prisons. I know it was rough but it was tough enough to teach some people lessons. Take a person and put them in prison on the chain-gang, make them work so hard that puts places on your hands that they won't soon forget and see if they want to stay or come back. I think it makes since. Prison is too easy. I know the guys or girls get in prison and fight or have gangs or whatever. But take away their time to do all this other stuff, put them to doing something that they don't like doing.

The law is all wrong too. The law is what let these guys get off so easy. Stewart got off the death penalty with his defense lawyers agruing that he lacked the premeditation and deliberation necessary for a first-degree conviction. So now he gets to live out his days in prison, not paying for nothing with three meals a day, a roof over his head, a bed to sleep on, heat for the winter, and air conditioning for the summer. He gets to talk to others, watch television, play games, and go outside on the pretty days of spring, summer, and fall. What does his victims and their families get? Between the law, lawyers, and prisons people will keep killing and doing wrong. It's wrong and something should changed.
