Gay Marriage

Gay marriage amendment approved by NC House committee

A divided North Carolina House committee has sent to the floor a proposed constitutional amendment that would ban gay marriage if voters statewide agree next spring. Three-fifths of the House members must vote yes twice on the measure before it can move on to the Senate. The Republican chairman of the committee didn't allow any public comment from the audience about the bill. House Democratic leader Joe Hackney said the question was being rushed through and its contents could have long-term unintended consequences
This is crazy to me. I believe that the committee should leave this alone. It’s already a state law same sex marriage is illegal, so why push this any further. God gives us all a choice in life and we are all free to choose that life on our own. So why can’t we as human beings do the same thing and let people do what they want to do. The constitution states that we have the right to be whom and what we want. I think this is stupid. There are more important things that I think the state committee should be thinking about and that’s getting jobs back in North Carolina. I need a job; I don’t care one hill of beans about people getting married that are the same sex. Making that new constitution to keep marriage between a man and a woman, taking away our rights, isn’t getting food on my table nor is it getting my bills paid. There are way too many other issues that have more importance that the committee of North Carolina needs to attend too. This is petty and should be left alone. I’ll vote against it!
